Dead Mother

Ugh! Thursday afternoon my 7 month old laptop died on me!

At first I thought it was the plug. Me and power-cords don't mix, because I've noticed that at time it doesn't hold the charge.

I headed out Friday and brought a plug, asked the Walmart man to test it for me, he did and laptop came on.

I quickly shut it down and bopped home all happy thinking I had solved my problem for a measly $70 bucks...NOT THE CASE!

I get home to start it up and it shut down on me again! Twice, before the HP logo even showed up!

I threw my clothes back on and flew to Best Buy.

The pubescent teenage PC genius does a little of this and a little that and shaking his head says "Yup, your motherboard's dead."

What?! Since when are moms aloud to get sick! Huh?

Great! I'm totally whining at this point, what's this going to cost me?

Free. Luckily still under manufactories warranty. Bad news, going to take 2-3 weeks to come back, even worse news, my computer could be wiped clean. Question: Do you think I back my computer up? If you answered no you win, well, nothing. My kudos for knowing me so well I guess.

Teenage genius doesn't think they'll wipe it clean but he's not sure.

Pissed does not even describe how I feel.

Sure I could use my husband's MAC to do all my important "internet" work but it's not the same!

I said all of this to say you may have a vacation from me for awhile....is that sighs of joy I hear?!

I have so many great post ideas but I'll have to figure out how to post in between Shawn working, AND I have no pictures and I hate posting without pictures.

I'm thinking it's time to look into a MAC. I hear those suckers never die.

They're like cockroaches.

  1. Ugh, that stinks! That same think happened to my laptop this Summer, I sent it in and when I got it back, all of my pictures, bookmarks, and important files were lost. So sad!! And of course, like you, I did not back it up! I hope that at least some of your things get saved anyways!

  2. Oh no! A couple of years ago I lost tons of great pictures...never again, I back up everything, several times a month.

I am so sorry this happened to you, I know what it feels like to get attached to a computer and then not to have it. I hope that your computer is not wiped clean!

I have been thinking about getting a Mac too. I can't believe I feel like I "need" one of each lol.

Hope you get your computer back soon!

  11. If it is just your motherboard then they have no excuse for not getting your data to you. They are just being lazy. Your hard drive is completely separate form the mother board. Make them copy your data over.
