I am Mom...hear me ROAR

I don't know about the rest of you. But after 21 hours of labor I was feeling pretty fearless. Like a super hero.

I had just pushed out a human person. I had done that. A whole being with ears, eyes and a personality lived IN ME.

I felt like I was invincible. That I could do anything....

Even let my baby throw up on me....all.night.long.

I completely forgot about posting this when it happened back in November. But here's the story.

Shawn was out of town in Atlanta for sessions and I still don't like being home alone at night. So I pack Phoenix and I up and high-tail it up the mountain and spend the next few days with my parents.

That Saturday Shawn was gone we had Chinese food for dinner. Phoenix ate pretty well that night and him and I hit the sack at about 10:30. At about 11 I was snuggled near him and I hear his stomach gurgling very loudly. And before I knew it he vomiting everywhere!

Normally just the thought of vomit makes me want to vomit.

Have you seen Four Christmases? Funniest holiday movie I've ever seen. But remember the part Vince Vaughn freaks over the baby vomit and starts screaming "Oh God! I'm going to do it!"...well thats me...

But I digress...

Phoenix throwing up all over the place and I'm rushing him to the toilet, changing sheets and freaking out because quite frankly it was a little bit scary.

And for the next 5 hours I woke up to him throwing up on me. And normally like I said I would be throwing up at the same time as the sick person,

But you see....I'm a mom now and fearless (at least in the areas of gross body things). Vomit no longer scares me. And poop no longer scares me.

Christmas morning I'm trying to change him and he got so rowdy that pooped ended up getting on my foot and shirt. How you ask? I don't really know.

But I do know that I'm fearless. I stare in the face of vomit, poop, pee and boogers and dare them to move me.

  1. Ha Ha! I'm the same way about puke. My firstborn had a horrible gag reflex for the first few years. Anytime she would have a cough she would gag and throw up. Ewwww! Plus all of my children spit up quite a lot. I seem to be able to handle it much better these days, but it still makes me queasy.

I pushed all 3 out with no drugs...it is very empowering, isn't it?

  2. Hahaha I hate puke espically when its newborn and straight down the front of your shirt into places puke should never go. Although I have found that women, moms are better equipped to handle a puking baby. The first time Miss Monk got sick like that Mr E came running down the stairs holding her face forward arm lengths away going "What do I do?", as she proceded to puke all over my floors. *sigh* men
