I am Mom...hear me ROAR Pt 2

You know what else super, fearless moms have?

Super sonic hearing.

We have the ability to be sound asleep and here a cough, sneeze, or a tiny wimper and we SPRING into action.

Ironically (after yesterdays post) last night was that night.

I've mentioned already how we transitioned Phoenix from crib to toddler bed (and pretty easily too) a few weeks ago. We actually made our own upholstered bed, for which I promised the tutorial & pictures. Hopefully by the end of the week.

Anyhow Phoenix has been sleeping in his toddler bed now for almost a month.

He's done really well with it. Only finding him asleep at the door a few times.

But last night around 2 AM I'm sound asleep and I hear the tiniest little foot steps and sit straight up and say to Shawn "I think he's in the hallway" sure enough there he was sitting on the steps. Shawn couldn't tell if he was coming up or going down.

But he was really happy to see Shawn and jumped up when he opened the door.

He joined us in our bed the rest of the night and commenced to kicking us in our face all.night.long.

But for awhile I couldn't get back to sleep because I got really nervous about what could have happened if I hadn't heard him. FYI: Shawn was the one to put him to bed so I'm sure the door wasn't all the way latched.

What if the front door had been unlocked and he figured out how to open it? What if he fell down the steps (although he is a pro)?
What if, What if, What IF?!

Super Fearless Moms have super sonic ears!

P.S. Tomorrow I start watching my niece Penelope on Wednesdays. Pray for me! A toddler and an infant!! Plus I've put off all my work this week and had plans to do it tomorrow, plus I have major organizing too and still have guests in town. Maybe I shouldn't be up blogging at 11 considering she's coming at 5a huh?

I am Mom...hear me ROAR

I don't know about the rest of you. But after 21 hours of labor I was feeling pretty fearless. Like a super hero.

I had just pushed out a human person. I had done that. A whole being with ears, eyes and a personality lived IN ME.

I felt like I was invincible. That I could do anything....

Even let my baby throw up on me....all.night.long.

I completely forgot about posting this when it happened back in November. But here's the story.

Shawn was out of town in Atlanta for sessions and I still don't like being home alone at night. So I pack Phoenix and I up and high-tail it up the mountain and spend the next few days with my parents.

That Saturday Shawn was gone we had Chinese food for dinner. Phoenix ate pretty well that night and him and I hit the sack at about 10:30. At about 11 I was snuggled near him and I hear his stomach gurgling very loudly. And before I knew it he vomiting everywhere!

Normally just the thought of vomit makes me want to vomit.

Have you seen Four Christmases? Funniest holiday movie I've ever seen. But remember the part Vince Vaughn freaks over the baby vomit and starts screaming "Oh God! I'm going to do it!"...well thats me...

But I digress...

Phoenix throwing up all over the place and I'm rushing him to the toilet, changing sheets and freaking out because quite frankly it was a little bit scary.

And for the next 5 hours I woke up to him throwing up on me. And normally like I said I would be throwing up at the same time as the sick person,

But you see....I'm a mom now and fearless (at least in the areas of gross body things). Vomit no longer scares me. And poop no longer scares me.

Christmas morning I'm trying to change him and he got so rowdy that pooped ended up getting on my foot and shirt. How you ask? I don't really know.

But I do know that I'm fearless. I stare in the face of vomit, poop, pee and boogers and dare them to move me.
