BTBW Karaoke Style

I have really cool project that I want to share with you that I just started. It's my YouTube channel and I finally decided to put up a video of me singing.


I have always loved music and singing and have grown up singing on every single worship team, at every Christmas and Easter play, wedding and graduations. But short of that I've never done anything else with my voice. In my "five year" plan I have on there to start really pushing myself to do something with it and my YouTube page is just the start.


After a week of hearing one of favorite songs to sing (Killing Me Softly by The Fugees) on the radio every time I got in the car I wanted to keep singing it and singing it and singing and singing...and, well you get the point. So I got the crazy idea to do the Cody Simpson thing and put a video up.


It took 2 hours for me to do because I am probably the goofiest person you'll ever meet and kept making weird faces while doing my "intro" dancing weirdly to the music (in my head) and all around being crazy. And in my effort to become more "photogenic" I ended up with these.

It wasn't until my brother (Whom we affectionately refer to as "Scrappy" as in "Scrappy" from Scooby Doo) Timmy came up and said "Just say your name and the name of the song and just sing! Gosh!" and so I did and that's the video I uploaded. Thank you Scrap for giving me the courage to continue LOL.

Home Sweet Home

I am so glad to be home from our NYC jaunt journey. The NYC trip was supposed to bring us home Tuesday evening but things went so great that we had to extend it until late, late, Friday evening! We rolled on in at a cool 1 AM and got up bright and early to do some house hunting.


This was the longest that either Shawn or I had been away from Phoenix and it was killing us. We even thought of taking the 3-4 hour drive Wednesday to pick him up but changed our minds when we found out he had two teeth coming in which automatically reminds me of devil rashes. 


Luckily we knew he'd be in great care so we left him with my mom. It was really, really tough but like my mom pointed out this very well could be how our life is going to be for awhile. We are actually even thinking that a small move to NY  or LA (depending on where they'll record the album) might be on the horizon. Not a giant relocation, but getting an apartment or house for 3-6 months.


Shawn and I feel positively high with the possibilities this past week WILL bring us. For so long we had hoped and prayed that something like this would present itself and seemingly out of nowhere POOF! it did!

New York...Where dreams are made of.

New York City and all it's walking and cold weather makes a bloggers job tough.


For the second day in a row I'm just logging on to the internets at 11:00p.


Things are going super, super fantastic here.

Shawn has been taking about 3 or 4 meetings a day and I have brought my sisters along to see NYC and to also be apart of the showcase that took place today.


Showcase- A "mini" concert performed by a new artist for record labels.

This showcase also featured about 80 screaming 15 year old girls "OMG! He spoke to me" it takes me back to NYsnc phase. Oy vey!

At this time I actually have no idea when I'll be home to stay. Shawn has follow-up meetings (excellent news) tomorrow and Thursday. But I also have to get the girls back for school and Shawn needs to be in LA Tuesday PLUS our Monkey Baby is at his Ya's so not sure when I'll be back or when I can delve back into awesome blog post, but rest assured I do have something pretty exciting up my sleeve so I hope you'll stick around.

Cody Simpson Part II

I'd like to interrupt our regular scheduled programing of poop, Christmas shopping and baby signing to point you to Cody Simpson.


I've probably mentioned before that my husband is a record producer. Not like your basement dwelling rapper living with his mom trying to make beats (although his studio happens to be in the basement), but a real live music industry record producer.

A few months ago he found this great kid from Australia named Cody Simpson. Cody and his Dad came to the States in September and worked for two weeks on music. While they were here they got a call that the ABC network in Australia wanted to feature him on The 7.30 Report (which is like our nightly news shows).

The reporters flew out here and met with Shawn and Cody and followed them in NY while they did some recording. The interview just aired last night and I think it turned out pretty awesome.

Cody is a natural born star and you can see it come through on the report and my husband (thankfully) did not embarrass me!

Something inside of me is telling me this kid is going to be huge and is going to help build my dream house. I think I'm probably not wrong because my husband's cell phone for the past two days has literally been blowing up with record labels calling him. They've even scored a meeting with Nickelodeon next month.

Introduction

Since baby has arrived I haven't been able to blog as much as I would like. But lately it's been pulling on me to really start writing in my blog again. I used to have one, but decided to start a different one since being a new mommy and wife is vastly different than my life 3 years ago.

So who am I and why am I wasting your time? I'm Alex new mommy to Phoenix Alexander Troy (yeah we're those weird name people). He's 5 1/2 months old, the light of my life, the cause of my sleepless nights, rumbly baby body, and perma-smile. Phoenix is the cutest baby (my blog, so I get to be totally biased) I've ever seen.

I'm married to Shawn Campbell, who's a music producer for major labels. Records of note: Missy Elliott-Ching a ling and Karina Pasian-First Love & Cry. Recently we just found out he was nominated for a Gramy for Karina Pasian. And we are extremely excited about what that could turn in to be. We've been together going on 3 years now and married a little over a month. I really love him :-)

I stay home with Phoenix AND work from home doing short sales for a real estate company. Working from home is much more challenging then working outside of the house. There are admittedly a lot of days where I don't get to shower until 2 because work is calling and Phoenix is screaming for breakfast. But I do love it because it allows me to be able to feel like a "grown up" and allows me to be able to be with Phoenix everyday all day. But thankfully his Yaya lives only a few minutes away and is a lifesaver when the emails and calls are piling up.

I hope to be able to spend a few minutes blogging before the baby wakes (hehehe) but lets face it when you have an infant who sometimes sleeps in 30 minute intervals and you have to figure out how to fold laundry, cook dinner, pee and try and look some what presentable before hubby arrives home blogging may not be a top priority. So I apologizes now if a lot of what I say is a rambling of words that don't make sense or are even spelled correctly...forgive me...I'm trying
