Random & Peculiar Facts

I get tons of emails every day asking me "Alex! Alex! Please tell us more about you! You seem like such a cool awesome chick that I would love to hang out with in real life. I would love to know more random and peculiar facts abouts you"

So here you go "Betsy" here are 10 random facts for you (Betsy is the other personality in my head. She emails me all day long. I wonder how she gets email access?? And how "Betsy" would we actually hang out?)

1. I used to be afraid of mustard- like when I was in Bible School people would chase me around with it and I'd scream. But fast-forward and a few months ago I have found myself eating it every once in awhile

2. I had my first s'more 3 years ago and I HATE them.

3. Eye graguated hi-scool at aged 15. Top of my class baby.

4. I've never been out of the country.

5. I was engaged (with parental consent) when I was 16 (had something to do with going to Bible School.)

6. I don't know how to blow bubble gum, blow up a balloon, whistle or snap my fingers. (Hmmm...maybe that was a class in Bible School The Biblical Reasons not to Blow. ?? LOL)

7. I have a super fantastic memory. Almost scary how great it is. All my memories are categorized by what outfit I'm wearing. Just ask my husband.

8. Speaking of husbands....I was dating my husband before we actually "met" (is that a story you'd be interested in?)

9. I can't say the words vagina or penis without cringing (again probably has something to do with the whole Bible school thing)

10. I turn off the TV when scary movie previews come on.

I've linked this post up at "Friend Friday" over at Modly Chic

10 sanity saving tips you need NOW

As moms we often find ourselves frustrated and flustered with overwhelming amounts of To-Do list, classes, meetings, practices, dinners, laundry, and husbands. Can I get a "Amen!" or a " I hear ya girlfriend!" no? How bout a "Yeehaw!" or a "Preach preacher!" ?????

One of my goals in starting this blog (other then selling my movie rights to my blog and life) was to help other women achieve the perfection and sanity I have as a mother and wife

Below are 10 sanity saving tips that will change your life drastically!

1.  Invest in reversible clothing.  1 outfit = Two days. How much easier can it get? .... Well.....

2. Purchase only "lounge wear" clothing. Cute enough to wear out, comfortable enough to sleep in. Kids go to bed already dressed for school. Bonus? Less cranky because they can sleep in.

3. Febreze- Spray your kids as they are walking out to school to help cut down on laundry.

4. Don't allow your kids any extra curricular activities. Period. Nada. None. Unless they can walk to and from.

5. Invest in a signature stamp and allow your kids to sign there own necessary school documents.

6. Make Christmas shopping easy by giving your kids the same toys they already own that they've "forgotten about"

7. Keep all kids who don't go to school in diapers and sleepers all day. No need to wash 15 outfits a day and saves time when changing at bed time.

8. Don't allow anything other then a bed and 2 books in the bedrooms. Nothing to clean up.

9. Say no to everything
"Mom can I have a birthday party?" "No!"
"Mrs. Smith can you bake 10 dozen cupcakes for the PTA bake sale?" "No"
"Honey, can we have sex? "No" (And this is two fold. No sex means no need to fight kids to go to bed early and duh, if you're not having sex you won't run the risk of producing more time suckers, er, uh, kids.)

10. And if all else fails, produce tons of kids who can do all the work for you a la The Duggars.

Disclosure: Because I know these fantastic sanity saver tips will change the life of ever woman I have decided to link up for a blogging contest from the TwitterMoms community. There is a chance this post could be randomly selected to win a $50 Target GiftCard, so wish me luck (Ha! Like I'm actually going to need it)! For more details, you can view the contest page here (http://icomp.ly/IconApps).

10 fun things to do with your husband

In celebration of Valentines Day I wanted to post some fun and cute things to do with your husband I found in January's issue of Cosmo.

Now don't go judging me. I don't subscribe to this magazine nor do I buy it in the store. I learned a while ago that Cosmo was kind of lame and recycled their sex tips all the time.

But I was at the hairdressers last month getting my hair colored (I need to post a picture) and read it and ripped out the section of like "50 ways to have fun with your guy".

Some were racier then I'd like to put here on my blog (considering my mom, grandma and mother-in-law read this) but my favs were G-rated.

Sometimes with the stress of parenting and household things my marriage can get stuck in a rut. It's fun to switch it up with new things every once in awhile.

1. Tune into a Travel Channel special one night and make a theme dinner to match.

2. Try to out-cheese each other with funny love notes, like "Some bunny loves you."

3. Use Rock,Paper, Scissors to decide pressing arguments like what to watch on TV.

4. Have cocktail night once a month, and try new recipes. We do something similar where we have like appetizers for dinner (or sometimes just cupcakes) these pot stickers are my fav and are very easy.

5. Make up aliases, and stick with them all night.

6. Bake his favorite childhood treat (ask his mom for the recipe)

7. Pick ridiculous ringtones for each other.

8. Make up stories about other people while waiting in line. (We do this)

9. Look at pricey real estate ads, and debate which property you'd "buy" (We actually just started doing this, because us buying a house is very, very close to happening soon!)

10. Try to throw as many cliched song lyrics into your conversation as possible, like "You are the wind beneath my wings."

Have fun!

10 Things....Before having a baby

I enjoyed my list last month about the top 10 reasons I'm a bad mom, so I decided to do this each month on....Ta Da! The 10th!

So here's this months list.

The Top 10 Things I wish I would have done BEFORE I had a baby:

10.  I would have gotten really skinny. It's much easier to lose baby weight, when you don't also have pre-baby weight you wanted to lose. Thank goodness I have finally found a secret weapon and the weight is literally pouring off me!

9. I would have learned a new language (fluently). Something hard like Japanese or Russian. How cool would it have been to have Phoenix cuss me out in English AND Russian?

8. Gone back to my mother land Greece. My father's half Greek and I've always wanted to go there to learn more about my culture. Plus it's friggin' beautiful! Husband- take my to Greece for TWO WEEKS.

7. Bungee Jumped, but would I have made it alive to actually have a baby?

6. Go skydiving.  Again another death defying act that could have had me splat all over the ground?! Eeek! Now I have a life I'm responsible for so this is something I probably shouldn't do.

5. Lived in NYC to cultivate that Sex & The City lifestyle that seemed so awesome and glamorous on the TV. A closet full of Manolo's & Jimmy's. Dinners at posh restaurants and a mysterious boyfriend only referred to as "Mr. Big"

4.  Taken my relationship with NFL great player Will Demps more seriously. Hello. How hot is he? I had the biggest crush on him when I moved to Maryland. Totally wateched every game of the Baltimore Ravens. We had a close family friend that played for them as well, so I was hoping he could help get Demps and our relationship, off the ground. Yeah didn't happen.

3. Bought a bigger car, putting a carseat into a tiny Scion TC was a pain in the ass! Thank the heavens we have a 4 door now! But wow how annoying that was!

2. Bought a house, since Phoenix has been born we've moved a couple thousand times. I get tired easily and want something new all the time. The reason I've been put on spending restriction. But it would have been nice to own a house before he actually came along.

1. Gotten married. Shawn and I were married and completely committed in our hearts before we even gotten regnant. But I didn't like in the hospital how Phoenix last name had to be Scott on his ID bracelet because that was mine. I think it would have been special to have a legal document solitfying our commitment. But it was special to have Phoenix as our witness when we did finally get married.

So there's my list. Don't get it twisted and think this is a bunch of regrets I have. I actually don't believe in regrets.

I love that little boy like crazy. Seriously. Love him so much sometimes it hurts. So no, I wouldn't go back and undo anything to be able to do stuff on that list.

Do you have things you wish you could have done or accomplished before having a baby?

Top 10 Reasons I'm a bad mommy

My philosophy on blogging has always been to:

Be yourself. Be transparent.
Be random. Be you....regardless
So in that vain I'd like to be honest and make a post of the top 10 reasons that make me a very bad mommy.

10. I let my son sleep with blankets in his crib starting at about 4 or 5 months, completely ignoring the whole "no blankets! no bumpers! no nothing!" that other moms tend to follow. The good thing is. He's still alive and we've never had any problems....Well there was...

9. The time I went to check on him and his swaddle blanket was    wrapped on his head.....So for a bit I did stop that.

8. I let my son drink juice most of the day and always forget to give him water.

7. I just started remembering to brush his teeth daily.

6. I planned an over-the-top first birthday party, kept him up for hours, gave him an entire cake to himself, and completely "over-stimulated" him.

5. I'll probably let him keep his paci until he's 10. It's just a battle I don't want to fight.

4. I let him play with pens. Yup. That's right. Writing pens. But only if the cap is on and I watch him like a hawk. Whatever it takes to keep him from screaming.

3. When he was a baby, baby, I would shower while he was on my bed. I did this until he was about 3 or 4 months old. He never went anywhere.

2. I let him watch as much TV as he wants.

1. We cuss around him and because of that yesterday he started saying "Bish, Bish"....any ideas what that word is?! Oy vey!
Phew! That feels so much better since I've gotten it off my chest!

::Putting on my shield and armor for the stones....::

What makes YOU bad a mommy?
